Supervisor Race:  Maury Goodman narrowly lost to Nicole Prater, 2427 to 2503

Trustee Race:  With 4 to be elected,  Judith Lukas was 1st and Shawn Hacker was 4th.  Barb Alekna and Don Voelz also won

They will be sworn in on May 17th

·        April 9th, 2021;  Many late-arriving vote-by-mail and provisional ballots are now included

o   Shawn Hacker is now in 4th by more than 100 votes, so he will almost certainly join Judi as a Trustee

o   Nicole now leads Maury by only 2490 to 2399

o   Judi is now within 6 votes of first among the 6 candidates

·        6th, 2021, Election Eve results with 100% of the precincts, but some late vote-by-mail votes still to be counted

o   We congratulate Judith Lukas as the first Democrat elected as a Winfield Township Trustee in memory

o   Shawn Hacker is 11 votes behind, so that race is too close to call

o   Maury Goodman lost to Supervisor Nicole Prater by 2454 to 2229.

o   Thanks greatly to all our supporters.  We would have liked to do better, but we couldn’t have achieved this victory without the help we did get!

·        April 6th, 2021, Election Day.  We joined Representative Lauren Underwood as she traveled the area to urge a high voter turnout.  See pictures here.

·        April 5th, 2021, Campaign ad to remind people to vote runs on WLS Radio, 890 on your dial.

·        April 3rd, 2021,Illinois State Senator Laura Ellman joined a 13 car caravan which drove throughout Winfield Township urging people to vote.  See pictures here.

·        March 28th, 2021; As we passed former Warrenville mayor Vivian Lund, during her 93rd birthday drive-by in downtown Warrenville, she stood up and shouted “Good luck Maury, I hope your team wins!”  photo

·        March 27th, 2021; We are the “Candidates who Care”, Cynthia Paulsen’s letter about CARES funding appears in the Daily Herald.  [see March 9th]

·        March 22nd, 2021; Extended early voting has started.  There are 15 locations, one in Winfield Township.  Go to the Courtyard Restaurant at 3s200 Rt 59, Warrenville.  For hours and other locations see here.

·        March 20th, 2021;  Our second piece of literature is being mailed.  It mentions the poor management of the current board regarding recent funding meant for COVID relief.  See here/aqui.

·        March 18th, 2021; We appear at a forum sponsored by Indivisible DuPage.  You can see the video at https://www.facebook.com/IndivisibleDuPage/videos/1591441691044386 and we appear at 1:09:00

·        March 17th, 2021; 11th Congressional District Congressman Bill Foster adds his enthusiastic endorsement of Maury Goodman, Judith Lukas and Shawn Hacker in Winfield Township as seen here in his letter to his  supporters in Warrenville, Winfield and West Chicago.

·        March 14th, 2021; We continue to be endorsed by leaders in Warrenville, West Chicago and Winfield, as well as Springfield and Washington.  Our slate has now been endorsed by 14th District Representative Lauren Underwood as part of her Farmteam.  We have also received support from 6th District Representative Sean Casten, and Illinois State Senators Karina Villa and Laura Ellman, as well as many citizens including Democrats, Republicans and Independents.

·        March 13th, 2021; We had a meet and greet at Kindred Coffee Roasters, 148 W. Washington St. in West Chicago.  The guest speaker was State Senator Karina Villa.   See pictures of the event here.

·        March 9th, 2021;  Winfield Township resident Cyd Paulsen studied the response to CARES funding which each township in DuPage County received and found the Winfield Township was the worst in terms of using that funding for the benefit of residents affected by COVID-19.  Here is her letter to the editor and a table showing the use of the money by each township.

·        March 7th, 2021;  We’ve printed our “trifold” which will be mailed to regular municipal election voters in Winfield Township.  You may download a copy here.

·        March 6th, 2021; Aspects of the March 2021 Winfield Township Newsletter look quite a bit like a campaign piece for our Republican opponents.  In response, we have issued a statement on election integrity.

·        March 4th, 2021;  Maury, Judith and Shawn are endorsed by Illinois State Senator Laura Ellman.  See Ellman press release ;  Other recent endorsements include Winfield Village President Erik Spande; Winfield Trustee Bob Greer; Warrenville Alderman Kathy Davalos, Warrenville Alderman  Bill Weidner.  Endorsements.htm

·        February 25, 2021;  Early Voting has begun.  Visit our Voting Guide for information on strategic voting, requesting a mail ballot, early voting, and other races that will be on the April 6, 2021 consolidated election ballot.

·        February 24, 2021;  Video statements from our candidates were made available for the League of Women Voters Election Video Guide.  Links are on the three candidate pages, or hear Maury, Shawn or Judith.

·        February 22, 2021;  Our slate receives endorsements from leaders in local government throughout Winfield Township, including Warrenville Mayor David Brummel and former Warrenville mayor Vivian Lund, county board members, and leaders elected to city, park, library and school boards:  endorsements.htm

·        February 16, 2021;  Illinois Appellate Court denies an expedited hearing of the appeal of the DuPage Court ruling putting Winfield Township Democratic Candidates back on the ballot.  This guarantees that our slate will be on the April 6, 2001 consolidated election ballot.

·        February 13, 2021;  Dupagepolitics.org covers conflict of interest of current Winfield Township Republican board.  link

·        February 12, 2021;  Chicago Tribune Editorial criticizes incumbents trying to keep other candidates off the ballot for “paper clips”.  Link  [In Norridge, it was members of the same party who are trying to keep the other party off the ballot.  In Winfield Township, it is the actual Republican candidates themselves who have tried to keep the Democrats off the ballot.]
